read the bible

I was recently preparing for a Sunday School lesson about the Bible.  As I went through the lesson, I began to realize how practical it is for everyone, not simply the youth that I would be teaching, so I want to share it with you.

This question was asked in the lesson and now I ask it to you: What does the Bible have to do with your faith in God?

It seems like such a simple question, but when really mulled over, I think we can discover some deep truth.

Many people have a faith in God.  A belief that God is reigning over the world and constantly in control.  I would even say that many of these same people have a faith in Jesus.  They believe that Jesus came down as God, in the form of man, to die on a cross and give us the ability to have a relationship with God.

However, I would guess that around half, maybe more, do not hold the Bible as a thing to be closely guarded and studied.  I would even guess that around that many do not read their Bible on a regular basis out of love for the Bible.

That really is the key: Having a LOVE for God’s Word.

It is not something that just happens, it takes time and effort.  It takes a commitment; much like a marriage commitment.  Through the good and bad we must work to stay plugged in to the Bible.

One great way that I have found to stay connected with the Bible and to keep others connected to the Bible is through Bible Gateway.

Bible Gateway has numerous resources that lend itself to helping you not only read the Bible, but study the Bible as well.  They have topical Indexes, Keyword Searches, and Passage Lookup to help you find what you are searching for in the Bible.

I believe this lends itself with us having a love for the Bible.  Using tools like Bible Gateway can help you discover new truth that maybe you have forgotten or never learned.

I encourage you to get in the Word this week.  To the left of this post is a place where you can click and search Bible Gateway through their different reference tools.

Luke 8:15 “As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience.”
